Regional Vice President

Are you obsessed with cold storage but feel stuck and ready to take the next step? Do you know you can manage more, take on more projects, and be a leader inside your organization?

At American Thermal Systems, Inc., we’re looking for our next Regional Vice President. This person will report directly to the CEO and manage the business unit. To succeed here, you’ll need cold storage construction experience.

You’ll ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently, deadlines are met, and budgets are followed.

The bottom line… you’ll help our CEO implement his strategy to execute on his vision.

WHY YOU’LL WANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM
As a small company, built on a pioneering vision to bring innovation to everything we do, you’ll experience the freedom to create something bigger, better, and more valuable for our clients. We don’t have a lot of red tape and encourage you to think outside the box.

We go beyond the lip service that usually accompanies a “people-first” mindset and invest in our people through leadership training, professional and personal training, and goal setting. Our family-friendly environment is making a difference in the lives of our team members.

The ability to own the work is why people join our team, and the accountability to make sure they succeed is why they stay. We regularly identify the issues holding us back and work together to break through them. If you’re tired of feeling stuck because no one is investing in your future, this might just be the place you’d love to call home.

Finally, you must have fun. At work… at play… wherever you are, life is too short not to have fun. Work hard, play hard aren’t just words at American Thermal Systems.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT

We’d be lying to you if we could identify everything that a Regional Vice President does for a cold storage construction company, but here’s a good idea of what you’ll be responsible for accomplishing.

  • Oversee projects through the sales and estimating process, preconstruction, and construction.
  • Execute on the strategies defined by our CEO as well as the requirements of the business unit.
  • Lead project specific proposals for new business and present our solution to clients.
  • Attend and participate in business meetings, industry events, and conferences to promote American Thermal Systems in the markets we serve.
  • Lead and manage the construction operations staff as they successfully perform their job requirements to ensure projects are completed safely, timely, and profitably.
  • Manage construction operations to improve workforce utilization and meet or exceed project budgets.
  • Motivate, mentor, and coach your direct reports and set clear expectations for success by adhering to the Core Values of American Thermal Systems.
  • Provide cost analysis for all active preconstruction assignments and manage the preconstruction department budgets so that a risk assessment can be evaluated.
  • Assist with recruiting and developing team members to support the organization's long term growth plans.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, management, and personnel in other departments to discuss projects, estimates, and resolve issues. Also, review and evaluate proposals and quotes for customers.
  • Oversee the review of project vendor invoices submitted to accounting and ensures staff complies with all accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee the approval of subcontractor pay applications.
  • Ensure the team is following the Corporate Safety Program.
  • Review and approve the project team’s work for preparation and submittal of close-out documents at the end of a project.
  • Host monthly job cost meetings and hold the project team accountable for all project budgets and timelines.
  • Manage the approved vendor list process and conduct quarterly COI audits.

Other duties as required to successfully execute on the CEO’s vision and successfully deliver projects to our clients.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

Just knowing what’s required in the role won’t set you up for success. As the Regional Vice President, success is broadly defined as freeing up our CEO to work on the vision and direction of the company. More specifically, here’s what you need to know to win in this role.

  • You MUST know the principles of cold storage construction, including freezer and cooler construction details, vapor barriers, and installation of cold storage doors and underfloor insulation. If you don’t have any experience in cold storage construction, this isn’t the job for you. We need someone with experience in this industry.
  • You must enjoy working on a computer. If you’re afraid to learn new systems or understand new ways to maximize your time on the computer, this won’t work out.
  • You must be able to problem-solve on the fly as schedules and timelines frequently change as issues arise during construction.
  • You must be an exceptional communicator in verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • You must have a particular attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • You must be able to complete scheduling and resource planning activities that drive efficient work processes, identify and manage all project risks, and enhance customer communication and satisfaction.
  • You have experience managing multiple projects and leading cross-functional teams.

Finally, we’d prefer that you know Procore. However, it’s critical that you understand the bidding and estimating process and have experience using this type of software.

Whew… that’s a lot. Remember that you’re responsible for the entire business unit and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within spec, and within budget.
