Geosyntec is seeking an Environmental Construction Site Manager to support our growing geo-environmental practice in our Columbia, MD office.  This position will be an integral part of our team, and will plan, direct, and coordinate a wide variety of environmental and construction projects including the construction of remediation systems, landfill containment or closure systems, roads, tanks, and occasionally building construction or demolition. This role is expected to supervise and coordinate the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, assuring the project is completed in a timely manner and within budget; work alongside clients, engineers, and architects involved in the construction process; and represent our clients in large multi-phase construction projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor activities on job sites to document compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.), permit requirements, and construction plans
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, regulators, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings
  • Effectively communicate project status, non-conformance, and proposed design modifications to the Engineer-of-Record and Project Management in a timely and professional manner
  • Review and approve contractors’ construction quality control (CQC) procedures including material submittals and manufacturers’ quality control (MQC) documents for completeness and compliance. Maintain complete and accurate files for each submittal
  • Maintain time and production records, analyze construction schedules and critical path management (CPM), and monitor construction progress with respect to scheduling and CPM tasks
  • Review and track contractor and subcontractor pay requests, invoices, change orders, and payments on a timely basis

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.   • Overnight travel: Up to 100%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Associate's degree. (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 6 years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the required knowledge, ability, and construction management skills. (required)
  • Prior experience managing large multi-task construction or environmental remediation projects and sophisticated estimating and scheduling techniques. (required)
  • Technical understanding of site investigation, construction quality assurance, and/or construction management procedures for solid waste facility or environmental remediation projects. (required)
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint etc.). (required)
  • Strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field. (required)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
