Company Description:
Fechko Excavating is a full-service professional survey, commercial excavating & paving company which specializes in performing site work and underground utilities for municipalities, commercial developments, educational and healthcare facilities and residential subdivisions.
Job Duties:
Evaluates bid specifications and prepares bid packages; collects cost data to estimate costs for current and future projects; analyzes blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates; reviews bid documents to ascertain project scope; prepares in-house scope of work outlines and quantity takeoffs for specific construction trades; prepares Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) for subcontractors on company bid list; reviews subcontractor bids and reconciles with inhouse estimates; prepares and binds proposal and qualification packages for distribution; interacts with project teams throughout bid process; distributes plans and specifications with guidance and information to subcontractors for estimate; provides interaction with proposed subcontractors during bid process; and prepares outline of project schedules.
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related; 5 years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, Estimator or Construction Project Manager; and at least 5 years of experience with the following: Sewer main installation, mass earthwork, stabilization, paving and related construction projects; Evaluating and performing take-offs; Estimating material/labor costs and preparing bids/estimates; Working with state Department of Transportation; Working with Construction and Material Specifications published by major issuing entities including state Department of Transportation, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and American Society for Testing and Materials; and Experience with each of the following: HCSS HeavyBid estimating software; Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software, Bluebeam Revu document take-off and markup software.
Alternatively, must have a Master’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related; 3 years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, Estimator or Construction Project Manager; and, at least 3 years of experience with the following projects: Sewer main installation, mass earthwork, stabilization, paving and related construction projects; Evaluating and performing take-offs; Estimating material/labor costs and preparing bids/estimates; Working with state Department of Transportation; Working with Construction and Material Specifications published by major issuing entities including state Department of Transportation, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and American Society for Testing and Materials; and Experience with each of the following: HCSS HeavyBid estimating software; Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software, Bluebeam Revu document take-off and markup software.
