We are seeking an intern (part-time or full-time) during the summer semester of 2023 (this will be a paid internship). Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fieldwork to assist with biological and ecological resource studies including wildlife habitat assessments, listed threatened and endangered species assessments, native and invasive plant vegetation surveys, wetland identification, and cultural field assessments;
- Assisting with preparation of environmental permit applications;
- Assisting with GIS mapping for field and desktop assessments;
- Assisting with preparation of environmental documents for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) including, environmental resource reports, Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS);
- Conducting environmental inspections for compliance with permit conditions including NPDES stormwater compliance, wetlands permits, navigable waters permits, and other state and federal environmental regulations including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) environmental regulations;
- Interacting with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;
- Observing and abiding by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
- Performing tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
- Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant biological/ecological/environmental discipline. (required)
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with ArcGIS and Microsoft Office. (preferred)
- Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
- Position may also require health and safety training for working in the field as part of our corporate Health and Safety procedures.
- Knowledge of native flora and fauna of the Southern and Midwest U.S. (preferred)
- Willingness to work outdoors in remote areas in the summer months. (required)
- Willingness to travel for field work with overnight stays. (preferred)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record to drive to project sites. (preferred)
