Summary of Duties
The service technician area team leader (ATL) reports to the service manager and is responsible for providing HVAC services to customers including preventive maintenance service, emergency service, and project service. ATLs are also responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of all services within their assigned area. ATLs work closely with the dispatcher for daily assignments, materials acquisition, and weekly scheduling for their entire team. ATLs will also be responsible for other duties as may be assigned by management.
Leadership, initiative, tact, integrity, communication skills and HVAC service skills are essential to this position. Job related contact can occur virtually with all demographic groups, with most daily contacts being with Maxair employees and both current and prospective customers. Job stress will range from moderate to extreme, with an average day being moderately stressful.
Area Team Leader Responsibilities Include:
Drive growth of both revenue and profitability of service team by actively managing service delivery within assigned areas
First line leadership and guidance of service technicians in designated area
Technical leaders & field support for service techs
Eye’s & ears in the field for technical and non-technical issues
Field training of new apprentice and journeymen technicians, including 30- and 90-day reviews
Backup for On-Call technician support (phone or on-site)
Role model for proper service technician conduct and performance
First line disciplinary feedback for improper conduct/performance
Support technician departure transitions
Perform documented annual journeyman technician performance reviews/ semiannual apprentice reviews
Hold monthly safety meeting with area team members and inform team of Maxair changes/updates
Proactively support Maxair directive
Other responsibilities as may be assigned by management
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated technical expertise and leadership abilities
- Local Union 72 membership
- Star certification strongly desired
- UA 40 Hour Foreman’s Training
- Universal EPA Certification
- Current driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Demonstrated history of working safely and following safe working practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in a drug free workplace
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with Maxair customers and coworkers, while supporting Maxair’s culture

Compensation
- Hourly wages per Local Union 72 scale
- Eligible for up to an additional $3/Hr. based on demonstrated area team leadership
- Participation in ATL Bonus Program
- Benefits per Local Union 72 contract
