Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) is currently seeking experienced Industrial Civil Carpenters and Civil Concrete Finishers.

This RCI Job Posting is specific to a Plaquemine, Louisiana, Project that require proof of USA Citizenship; proven through issuing State Birth Certificates, USA Passports, or Naturalized Citizenship (Legal Immigration Procedures).

Position Summary

An Industrial Civil Carpenter or Civil Concrete Finisher will construct, dismantle, and repair concrete forms, will set locate and prepare foundations with rebar or embeds for concrete pours, and will pour and finish concrete across a construction site.

RCI has various levels of Civil Concrete/Finisher positions based on experience and skills ranked as follows:

  • Civil Concrete/Finisher - Journeyman: NCCER Certified in Concrete Finishing or Masonry.  Minimum 4+ years experience working as a concrete mason on an industrial construction project.
  • Civil Concrete/Finisher - Cement Finisher: Smooths and finishes surfaces or poured concrete floors, walls, or sidewalks to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools. Requires 3+ years experience in craft trades.
  • Civil Concrete/Finisher - Helper: Help concrete masons by performing duties requiring less skill or experience. Duties include using, supplying, or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work area and equipment.

Qualification Highlights:

  • Must have civil masonry experience and experience working on an industrial construction site
  • Must be able to:
    • Layout foundations
    • Set templates
    • Set anchor bolts or embeds
    • Manage levels and elevations
    • Set and secure form work
    • Install bulk re-bar or pre-tied re-bar
    • Pour and finish concrete
    • Rub final surface profiles as required
  • Must be willing to follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Must have all required tools
  • Must be able to regularly and reliably show up at the assigned job site
  • Must meet all safety and security requirements at the assigned job site

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify all tools required for tasks
  • Identify safety risks and precautions required to eliminate those risks
  • Measure, mark, and cut required masonry forming materials to required specifications
  • Construct, re-enforce, ad dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms
  • Build and construct wooden forms
  • Clean up work areas
  • Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties (be a Team player)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read engineered drawings proficiently to perform duties
  • Must have knowledge on materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction
  • Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment or materials to specifications
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime with little or no notification
  • Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional duties while not performing primary craft duties
  • Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Must follow all company and site rules and regulations
  • Must have required tools

  • NCCER Certification as an Industrial Concrete Finisher or Masonry
  • Formal/Technical education
  • Experience working with concrete, re-bar, and forms

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
  • Will talk and hear in order to communicate effectively
  • Able to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, and push or pull objects such as materials, controls, and tools
  • Will be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms and man lifts
  • May occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements
  • Will work at heights up to 300 feet utilizing proper fall protection devices
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short distances, see colors, possess depth perception and peripheral vision
  • Must be capable or working outdoors in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, and masks/respirators
