John Deere Construction Equipment Dealership with multiple locations serving Southern California, Nevada and Idaho is looking for an Application Specialist to join our Nevada team.

Title: Application Specialist

Reports to: Sales Manager

Purpose:

An Application Specialist for John Deere Dealers has responsibilities including, but not limited to the following bullets below.  The candidate will be required to provide technical and application assistance to support increased Wirtgen, John Deere, and machine control technology sales across Coastline’s area of responsibility.  The candidate will understand competitive offerings.  Experience in road building, construction, GPS, slipfoam paving, machine control technology, quarry, aggregate, mining, crushing, screening is strongly preferred.

Service Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostics and technical assistance, determine what repairs are needed and advise technicians on repairs as necessary
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance
  • Prepare and/or review all reports and forms required in conjunction with work orders, taking note of the cause of failure/problems
  • Assist in completing warranty information with complete and thorough documentation
  • Maintain current knowledge of Wirtgen, John Deere, Topcon, Vogele, Hamm, and complementary products
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Understands and utilizes technical service information programs and procedures
  • Calls on customers to grow customer base and promote customer support through service contracts and technical parts support
  • Provides technical and application support during the process of machine sales

Training Responsibilities:

  • Provide product operation training to salesmen, technicians, and customers
  • Provide diagnostic and technical training to Coastline technicians
  • Attend training as required to stay current with new equipment and to further enhance abilities in existing equipment

Other Responsibilities:

  • Identify and communicate customer inefficiencies and offer solutions
  • Utilize various computer programs of Coastline, Wirtgen, John Deere, Topcon and complementary product tools as resources
  • Operate company vehicle to provide technical assistance in the field
  • Strong knowledge of Wirtgen Road Building and crushing equipment
  • Good skills in operating vehicles and equipment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet and office machines
  • Strong attention to detail

 Physical Requirements and Work Schedule:

  • Able to do occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs
  • Employee must be able to stand for an extensive amount of time
  • Able to sit for extensive amount of time in a vehicle when traveling
  • Able to move or hold arms and hands in small areas, utilizing tools, for an extensive amount of time
  • Able to use tools that vibrate for an extensive amount of time
  • Able to climb up and down equipment
  • Able to travel as needed
  • Able to work flexible schedule, including overnight stays and some weekends

 Required Qualifications:

  • Required minimum 5 years prior experience in paving, compaction and milling as an operator, technician, or sales - will considered same experience with construction and production class equipment, no compact equipment
  • Required minimum 5 years prior outside territory-based sales experience in construction industry- including quoting, cold calling, presentations, and use of CRM
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to perform diagnostics, provide technical assistance, machine inspections and setup
  • Post high school education preferred
  • One year certificate from a college or technical school or at least three years related experience and/or training in a subordinate position
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Due to safety regulations, must be 25 to apply
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Valid driver’s license required
