Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Financial Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting, compliances, and reporting activities, and will be supporting the finance team in the preparation of presentations to the Board of Directors, senior leadership team, finance and non-finance partners.
The Financial Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations and supervise the accounting team. Functional responsibility include month-end accounting, profit and loss account review, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, annual audit, sales tax, and other regulatory and compliances. The Controller will ensure that FTR has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Financial Controller will work closely with organizational leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding accounting procedures, but also to explore how the accounting function can support day-to-day operations. Your Responsibilities:
Accounting and Team Leadership
- Manage the day-to-day monthly financial statement close process, driving progress during the close to ensure the timely and accurate closing of monthly financial results.
- Evaluate processes and implement more efficient practices and procedures to reduce monthly close to 5 working days by end of next financial year.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure consistent coding of transactions to general ledger account segments (revenue and expenditure) and projects.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, cost of revenue, and operating expenditures.
- Lead day to day relationships with the auditor for the planning, coordination and conduct of their annual audit and other services. Oversee external audit process to facilitate completion of audit procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Consistently analyze financial data in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of FTR’s financial status.
- Support the Finance Analyst in trends analysis, actual vs budget review, and other financial operating models and delivery.
- Oversee all financial, project accounting; ensure that revenues and expenditures are consistently aligned with budgets throughout the fiscal year.
- Optimize cashflow through review AR aging for collection risk, and AP aging for early payment discount.
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting and compliances; gross margin review, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, sales tax, and month-end accounting.
- Ensure accounting policies and procedures conform to US GAAP accounting standards. Ability to roll out policies and procedures and ensure consistency of applications across FTR.
- Leverage strengths of the current accounting team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Required Work Experience, Qualifications, & Skills
- A mature leader with strong accounting experiences, preferably with 7 to 10 years of mix of software and hardware industry background, which include Public Accounting/Audit experiences.
- Minimum of a BA; CPA (Active/Inactive) strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Must be available to work across multiple time zones and with a geographically dispersed team.
- Ideally experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power Query, Microsoft Power BI.
- Technology savvy with experience developing ERP system.

- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
