JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for overall project delivery; provides management direction for one or more projects within region, through technical and relational evaluation of project before, during and after construction; coordinates all workforce activities. Entry-level project management role with expertise and technical proficiency that is primarily focused on one discipline of work. May report to a more senior Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Directly, and through subordinate managers, plans, leads, and controls all work for the assigned region; works across regions as dictated by overall Company project load.
- Proficient use and working knowledge of control systems, including but not limited to scheduling tools. Ability to analyze and act upon the information generated from use of control systems.
- Proficient beginner use and manipulation of estimating software i.e. Bid2Win.
- Cost revision, budgeting and forecasting responsibilities
- Evaluation and administration in collaboration with senior manager of all standard form contracts and subcontracts; beginner application of core competencies in negotiation of the same.
- Resource management related to labor, material buyout and equipment.
- Demonstrates the ability to build positive relationships with owners, architects, consultants and employees.
- Responsible for employee development through effective onboarding, training and coaching, and performance and career management. Initiates self-improvement plan for self and subordinate managers.
- Responsible for business development in collaboration with senior manager for the assigned region, including but not limited to business strategy/target market/projects.
- Performs work in a safe manner and in compliance with all Company safety standards and the directions of supervisors.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the project and the Company by being solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all members of the team, and meeting quality, production and safety expectations set by the Company.
- Performs additional assignments per business unit manager's direction.
- Directly, and through subordinate managers, supervises staff of 50 – 100.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Knowledge of golf course and or sportsfield construction tasks and execution sequence (technology, equipment, and methods).
- Knowledge and ability to read, understand, and apply principles of project budget, schedule, and design and specification requirements in managing projects.
- Knowledge of and ability to read and understand architectural plans, blue prints, and project contracts and corresponding information for all scopes of work.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply interpersonal communication skills with strong customer orientation.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply negotiation skills when dealing with owners, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Self-discipline on time management, organization and prioritization of tasks and projects; ability to complete work in an accurate and thorough manner.
- Ability to identify problems, analyze them, and bring positive resolution.
- Knowledge and ability to use the following computer software programs; MS Outlook, MS Project, and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply math i.e. percentages and square footage as it is used in the construction industry.
- Must maintain a professional appearance consistent with the position.
- Ability to walk entire job site and stand or walk for long periods.
- Ability and willingness to follow all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
- Demonstrates a sense of ownership in the work and commitment to the success of the project and the Company.
- Ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees and supervisors and respect the rights of others.
- Ability and willingness to work in outdoor elements: hot & cold temperatures, rain, mud, dust, noise, sun, thick underbrush, etc.
- Requires average 55-hour workweek and willingness/ability to travel; regular and timely attendance during all scheduled work days and hours is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, turfgrass science, agricultural science, or a closely related field or program such as landscape architecture.
- Three to five to years’ experience in golf course construction and management roles.
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
