We are currently searching for a Regional Equipment Manager.  This person is to provide oversight of all regional equipment maintenance and repair operations.  This person will also be responsible for the leadership of all maintenance personnel, safe work practices, third party maintenance providers, and the shop facility/yard.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and quality work practices in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Support the field operations by minimizing down time, providing timely response, and safe & productive equipment
  • Use electronic systems to accurately capture work performed and technician time reporting
  • Use telematics to track equipment utilization and suggest efficiency improvements
  • Manage regional shop/yard staff and facility
  • Recruit, interview, and hire for supervised positions (may include maintenance technicians, project engineers, fuel/lube operators, lowboy operators, and shop laborers)
  • Periodic performance reviews of all assigned personnel
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Approve purchase orders
  • Monitor bulk fuel stock levels and consumption for projects and shop facilities in region, communicate procurement needs with Inventory Control Specialist and Field Maintenance Manager
  • Accountability for regulatory compliance at shop facility and maintenance/repair operations
  • Weekly project site visits to inspect equipment condition, audit machine inspections, meet with field technicians and project teams
  • Make recommendations to management team as to equipment needs/replacements
  • Follow up on oil sample and fault code recommendations
  • Monitor track and tire inspections and advise Field Maintenance Manager on upcoming track and tire needs
  • Serve as primary contact for regional Superintendents and Foreman regarding equipment repairs needed or technical questions and equipment needs/moves and communicate with Field Maintenance Manager
  • Schedule and prioritize repairs for field technicians
  • Manage new hire training and technician mentorship program
  • Compile reports and presentations as needed
  • Maintain inventory of shop supplies and tools
  • Identify training needs of technicians and set up applicable training classes to further grow technician skill level

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of heavy equipment management experience
  • AEMP Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) or Equipment Management Specialists (EMS) preferred
  • Proven skills in leadership, team building, and negotiation
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) and collaborative skills
  • Mechanical experience in repairing and maintaining heavy equipment required
  • Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete work on schedule
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, experience with Viewpoint Vista software preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 50%)

 

Work Environment:

Work is performed in both an office setting as well as outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
