
County Auto/Diesel Technician
The McCook County Highway Department is looking for a full-time County Auto/Diesel Technician. The County Auto/Diesel Technician is responsible is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the County Highway Equipment.
As a County Auto/Diesel Technician, you’ll perform a variety of duties including:
- Performs in shop repairs as directed by the Highway Superintendent
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment
- Coordinates outsourced repairs
- Perform parts and materials; may assist in the development of specifications for new vehicles and maintenance of equipment
- Operates and maintains highway equipment
- Assures equipment is in proper and safe running order
- Follows safety standards
- Attends ongoing training and safety classes as required
- Maintains and updates accurate equipment maintenance and repair records
To be qualified for this position, you’ll need:
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) within 180 days of hire required
- Preferred to live within McCook County and be available to report for work on short notice during emergencies and adverse weather conditions
We’re looking for someone who has knowledge of:
- Trucks and highway equipment
- Basic computer and iPad operations
- Ability to read manuals and equipment specifications
- Repair, manuals, and proper use of repair equipment and tools
- Methods, materials, and techniques used to perform road maintenance activities
