ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals?  Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills gained from academic training to practical situations in the core area of competency;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, groundwater, indoor air, and soil vapor sampling, remediation treatment system operation, maintenance, and monitoring, and drilling and remedial contractor oversight;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects;
  • Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA 1910.120 health and safety, first aid, CPR, and other training, as well as medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. 
  • Fieldwork: Up to 75%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science, or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or engineering. (preferred)
  • Engineer or Geologist in Training certification (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Up to 3 years of applicable experience or a master’s degree in one of the above disciplines (preferred)
  • Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Access, Modflow, and/or EVS. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and/or 8-hour recertification (preferred) or ability to attend company paid training after start of employment (required)
