Job Summary:

The safety manager will be part of a team implementing and monitoring fixed site, logging, and line clearance project safety, including the development and implementation of site safety policies and procedures.

Reports to: Corporate Director of Safety

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety support, such as local policy and training implementation and compliance.
  • Assists the safety director with the development of corporate policy and procedure by advising on local requirements.
  • Assist with safety requirements as needed in the line clearance and logging industries.
  • For employees and subcontractors, assist in determining the cause of unsafe conditions and injury claims through procedure, equipment, facilities inspection and worker observation.
  • Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in implementing, maintaining, and reporting metrics for tracking and reporting on performance issues.
  • Review project work plans for accuracy in conformance with the standards and assist in site and project safety program audits, coaching, and training.
  • Traffic Control training and monitoring.
  • Carry out duties in varying work environments including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain which may require travel/temporary relocation to other job sites/projects.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Construction or an HSE field.
  • 3-5 years of LINE CLEARANCE Safety experience required.
  • Current CTSP, Certified Arborist, or TRAQ Arborist certs.
  • Knowledgeable in construction safety and HSE regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Works well independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Must be able to travel/temporarily relocate as necessary to multiple work sites.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Construction or Safety is strongly preferred.
  • CSP or ASP certification preferred.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
