Job Summary:
The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company working closely with and reporting to the CEO of the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Produces periodic financial reports ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and reviews with CEO.
- Processes accounts payable and ensures that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Processes cash receipts and ensures that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
- Works with CEO on bank reconciliations.
- Works with HR Department to ensure that payroll is processed efficiently, in a timely manner and accurately entered into the accounting system once processed.
- Works with external auditors and prepares information for the FAR overhead audit.
- Works with external CPA to prepare corporate taxes
- Collaborates with CEO on production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Calculates variances from budget and reports significant issue to the CEO.
- Provides financial analyses as needed for pricing decisions and contract negotiations.
- Provides financial analyses for insurance renewals and administers insurance policies.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Assists Project Accountant with issues relating to project setup, maintenance and billing.
- Manages accounting staff.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to travel as needed.
