POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Ready-Mix Outside Sales Representative sells ready-mixed concrete to customers in various industries, including construction, infrastructure, and residential projects. This role requires strong sales and customer relationship management skills to identify and pursue new business opportunities, maintain existing customer accounts, and achieve sales targets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, lead generation, and prospecting.
- Build and maintain a network of customers and industry contacts through regular communication, meetings, and presentations.
- Negotiates pricing levels to encourage business.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including production, quality control, and logistics, to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Set sales targets and objectives in alignment with company goals and monitor progress against them.
- Prepare and deliver regular sales reports, forecasts, and analyses to the sales manager or senior management.
- Continuously evaluate market conditions, customer feedback, and competitor activities to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies.
- Collect past due accounts payable.
- Accurately estimate materials needed and add-on merchandise.
- Recommend adjustments to the current product line and pricing to remain competitive.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess customer requirements, provide guidance on concrete solutions, and gather feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D Required
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in the ready-mix concrete or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of ready-mixed concrete, including its properties, applications, and mix designs.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with a record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Technical aptitude and the ability to understand and explain concrete mix designs, specifications, and performance characteristics.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and CRM software.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
