SUMMARY:

As the VP of Design Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of our organization. You will lead a team encompassing engineering, quality, and facilities management. You will oversee the development of cutting-edge metal fabrication technologies, and ensure the highest levels of quality and efficiency in our manufacturing processes. Your leadership and strategic vision will be instrumental in achieving our company’s goals and maintaining our position as an industry leader. In this role you will report directly to the President of United Alloy and located in our Janesville, Wisconsin office, with periodical travel to our other locations.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineering Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the engineering department, setting clear goals and expectations for the team while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives and supports our commitment to staying at the forefront of metal fabrication technology.
  • Team Management: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and technical professionals. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Product Development: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring that our products meet quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards, ensuring that all products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, allocating resources effectively to support project goals and business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including sales, operations, and procurement, to ensure alignment and effective communication across the organization.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards, ensuring that the company's engineering practices and products remain compliant.
  • Innovation and Research: Encourage and support research and development initiatives to explore new technologies and materials that can drive innovation and competitiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership in engineering and manufacturing, with at least 10 years of experience, 5 of which in a senior management role.
  • Deep knowledge of metal fabrication processes, materials and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with and leading others in group or team settings.
  • Strong leadership experience with multiple facilities is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport quickly and highly approachable.
  • Willingness to travel.
