Job Purpose

The Safety Director is responsible for directing and providing safety program oversight. The position develops and implements behavior-based safety practices; manages development of site-specific safety plans; ensures compliance with Company, OSHA, and client safety requirements; and conducts root-cause analyses of heath and safety incidents. Responsible for monitoring and documenting the effectiveness of safety control measures and directs the staff in the implementation of the safety requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

· Provides guidance and assistance to all the staff

· Liaison between BCM and client safety personnel on matters concerning the safety and health of employees on site and office

· Perform periodic site safety audits to maintain compliance with Company, local, state, and federal regulations.

· Conduct job hazard analysis. Identify existing and predictable hazards and recommend feasible corrective measures.

· Review and manage all casualty insurance claims to include WC, AL, and GL, preparing monthly reports for location management.

· Interact with TPA adjusters and President of the Company at every level of claims management ensuring proper discourse with employee’s, closure, and settlement procedures.

· Assist Operations with confined space entry and applicable safety equipment and requirements.

· Evaluate and determine proper use of specialty safety gear such as, but not limited to, atmospheric monitoring devices, air purifying respirators, supplied air respirators, man lifts, fall protection equipment, etc.

· Assist operations and sales with appropriate safety equipment and processes necessary when bidding jobs. Make recommendations for purchase of site-specific safety requirements and equipment.

· Responsible for insuring supervisor’s complete accident reports. Investigate incidents and ensure proficient reporting, identification of contributing factors, and recommend practices to eliminate future accidents, illnesses, equipment damages, and near miss incidents.

· Coordinate with supervisors on appropriate non-emergency medical care. Confer with medical providers and assist Risk Management with day-to-day case management.

· Monitor and audit compliance with DOT regulations, including:

· Driver Qualifications Files

·Duty Status Logs

·Vehicle Inspections/Maintenance

· Work with the President of the Company and Construction Manager in developing and conducting safety training sessions as necessary and appropriate.

· Develop and maintain a working knowledge of state and federal regulatory activity (DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) Interpret and apply applicable regulations and assist with development of programs aimed at compliance.

· Assist with the implementation of the Safety Incentive Programs

· Assist with job site supervision on occasion

· Monitor maintenance of OSHA 300 logs

· Monitor and audit field-level compliance with Substance Abuse Program.

  • Perform other reasonable tasks that may be requested by the Company.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Trade knowledge (Sheet metal, Pluming, Piping, Welding)

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk and hear. Regular use of basic office equipment such as a telephone, computer, keyboard, mouse, and copier. The employee will occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Salary: From $95,000.00 per year
