Director of Operations
We are seeking a Director of Operations who has the capability and ambition to grow within our organization. The successful individual will work directly with the Regional Vice President and other leads to manage the fundamentals of the business. The Director of Operations will have area manager responsibility for a major customer leading field operations for our line clearance vegetation management (tree trimming) contract(s). This position has full P&L responsibility and bonus/profit sharing tied to P&L performance. This position is highly demanding and requires someone who is adaptable, self-motivated, and quick study.
The successful candidate will be a multi-faceted leader, capable of communicating at all levels internally and externally. The successful candidate will partner with the operations workforce in the field, effectively communicate to client senior executives, and strengthen relationships with operational leaders for our current customers. This role requires significant time commitment, visiting with customers (current and prospective), spending time with crews in the field, crafting proposals, and leading the successful, safe management of a team of vegetation management professionals at all levels.

Job Type: Full-Time +, Exempt
Pay:
- $125,000 to $180,000 Depending on experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the group responsible for managing utility Transmission and Distribution (T&D) vegetation management activities to the scope and terms.
- Manage field operations to enable the work to be completed on budget, on schedule, and to the quality levels specified.
- Ensure assigned operations are completed in alignment with customer contractual obligations, job scope specifications, and bid prices/profit margins projected.
- Consult with leadership in developing long-term contract strategies for utility T&D maintenance.
- Evaluate the benefits and risks associated with implementing specific commercial & operational options.
- Assist in developing annual plans for all assigned companies and/or regional operations including identifying the appropriate permits required for each project, obtaining these permits, and ensuring adherence to the permit requirements.
- Develop and implement performance standards and metrics for in-house and subcontractor field crews.
- Develop and implement new work processes or improve existing work processes that lead to improved efficiencies.
- Ensure project status/progress reports are completed and supplied to our leadership. Use progress reports to identify cost/schedule issues and initiate the development of corrective action plans as needed to keep projects on budget and on schedule.
- Participate in bidding contracts for the development of the annual and longer-term budget by providing budgets, cash flows, and completion schedules which directly impact the earnings forecast.

Education & Experience:
- Extensive experience (10 + years) in a field-service-based business, with involvement in line clearance vegetation management, construction, contract management, engineering, or project management; management/supervisory experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.

- A valid Driver's License is Required.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 60% travel required.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
