An Assistant Project Manager (APM) uses communication and project management skills to coordinate a project. The primary function of an APM is to assist the Project Manager and Superintendents. An APM has a general understanding of commercial construction and is familiar with most facets that go into managing a basic project.  Your time will be dedicated to learning the business side of construction and gaining a full understanding of the cost report.  As a Lusardi APM, you will manage your own projects with close supervision and oversight in order to help learn and gain experience.  

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with vendors, employees and clients to organize project expectations
  • Monitor and report on project budget and spending
  • Ability to write comprehensive subcontracts
  • Complete a thorough cost leveling for any trade
  • Prepare a comprehensive estimate
  • Support Preconstruction with the bid process
  • Process and review RFI's and Submittals
  • Analyze and prepare change orders
  • Negotiate subcontracts and change orders
  • Ability to create a basic project schedule and conduct project meetings
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, specs, and soils reports
  • Evaluate and identify challenges and utilize resources to solve problems
  • Support requests from Superintendent, Project Managers and Senior Project Managers

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or other related discipline preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in the construction industry in a Project Management role
  • Can be a combination of training, education and relevant work experience

  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirement with a professional demeanor
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professional with all levels in house as well as with owners, clients, and vendors

 

The pay range for this position of employment is expected to be between $93,600 and $114,400/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
