Your role at GEI.

This mid-level archaeology position will assist on various projects throughout the western US and occasionally other parts of the US.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Identify human remains and faunal bone in archaeological contexts.
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports.
  • Assist with project management tasks and manage small projects.
  • With assistance from Cultural Resources Group Leader, pursue new clients and projects
  • Conduct archival research
  • Plan and lead the implementation of archaeological surveys and site excavations
  • Supervise field crews
  • Prepare cultural resources reports in support of Section 106 compliance and state compliance
  • Assist agencies with Native American coordination
  • Prepare NEPA cultural resources sections
  • Interact with clients and attend client and project meetings
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring
  • Participate actively in trade organizations and conferences, deliver presentations, and write technical papers.
  • This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Archaeology or closely related field with an emphasis in human and faunal osteology
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist.
  • 5 years of archaeological consulting or agency experience in western US.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience independently preparing complex technical documents for various cultural resources projects.
  • Excellent and respectful relationships with Tribal representatives and Agency personnel
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
  • Candidates must also be knowledgeable of federal cultural resources regulations and US state regulations.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
