Key Responsibilities 

  • Generate monthly reports, review and reconcile tenant accounts receivable and security deposits to general ledger on monthly basis.
  • Reconcile complex transactions and financial activities according to policies; review and investigate financial and accounting records, and resolve issues related to treasury, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
  • Review the utility detail charges by tenant and coordinate with accounts payable to release utility allowance checks to clients.
  • Prepare and send monthly rent and utilities invoice to all DHA lessees and process invoices, contract payments and utility payments.
  • Prepare quarterly/periodic resolution for write-off of uncollectible accounts of vacated tenants who maintain balances due and do not respond to collection attempts.
  • Review and maintain form W-9 for new vendor set up.
  • Reconcile all accounts payable entries to the general ledger.
  • Manage daily and monthly treasury operations.
  • Monitor all travel requests and settlements according to DHA policy.
  • Coordinate with the controller to prepare financial analyses and annual report.
  • Comply with internal audit reports and assist with payroll compliance and accuracy.
  • Supervise the Accountant I and II – A/R and A/P.

 

Knowledge and Skills for Success

A successful accountant supervisor has…

  • Knowledge of DHA organization, operations, policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of and skill in applying Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) standards, auditing principles, recommended practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles related to public sector financial administration.
  • Understanding of Federal and state grant and special fund accounting regulations, procedures, and accountability standards.
  • Knowledge of personnel rules and budgeting systems.
  • Understanding of the principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Skill in multi-tasking and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with DHA staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
  • Four (4) years of accounting and supervisory experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
