Job Summary: Drone Pilot

Ceres is seeking an experienced and licensed drone pilot. Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in safely operating and maintaining drone equipment to collect high-quality images and video utilizing equipped cameras.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Operate drones for various purposes, including aerial photography, videography, mapping, and surveying.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections and equipment checks to ensure safe and proper functioning of the drone.
  • Capture high-quality aerial footage and images using drones equipped with cameras.
  • Edit and process captured footage and images to produce professional-quality videos and photographs.
  • Collaborate with clients or team members to determine project requirements and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of flight logs, maintenance logs, and any incidents or accidents that occur during drone operations.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in drone technology, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Drone Pilot License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • 2+ years’ experience as a drone pilot Valid FAA commercial drone license
  • 100+ hours of drone flight time
  • 2+ years’ experience with flight planning and photogrammetry software including DroneDeploy and Pix 4D and ESRI SiteScan
  • Proficient in operating drones and familiar with different types of drone models and their capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to drone operation.
  • Experience in aerial photography or videography is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is a plus.
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on drones.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to accomplish project goals.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Other tasks as required.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degrees
  • Prior FEMA experience
  • Experience with drone software including DroneDeploy, Pix4D, SiteScan or GIS software Engineering or
  • Knowledge of GIS and use of applications within ArcGIS Online

Professional Skills:

 Superior customer service skill set, ability to listen, facilitate and negotiate problems. Strong organization and problem-solving skills required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Travel:

This position is expected to travel to project sites and locations within Puerto Rico including Vieques and Culebra

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of his job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Sites can be very hot and dusty.
