Job Title: Sr. Project Manager – Commercial Building Division
Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing self-performed, large scope commercial projects, such as water/waste-water treatment facilities, industrial structures and commercial buildings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Work alongside field Superintendent to ensure projects are completed safely and on-schedule.
- Coordinate and manage both self-performed and sub-contracted scopes of work.
- Manage scheduling with vendors, subcontractors and onsite staff.
- Provide status reports regarding budget, milestones, timelines and potential challenges.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations across all project phases.
- Resolve any project-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to timelines and budgets.
- Manage all document control and submittal processes.
- Review and approve all change orders.
- Network with prospective clients and develop a pipeline of potential projects.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Kansas City Commercial Building Division.
- Work with the preconstruction team as assigned to assist with proposal preparation and successful buyout of awarded projects.
- Other miscellaneous duties as directed by the VP of the Commercial Building Division.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience managing large scope commercial construction projects as a general contractor.
- Proven experience in managing skilled trades and sub-contractors.
- Ability to create and work with contracts, RFI’s, change orders, submittal documentation, and plans/specifications.
- Must have strong working knowledge of commercial means and methods along with general best practices.
- Proficient in construction systems including but not limited to various estimating software, Microsoft Office, On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, ERP software, and scheduling systems.
- Promote safety and project housekeeping practices.
- Must be able to assess and mitigate risk during all project phases.
- Ability to collaborate and cooperate with others, including peers, clients, subcontractors, general public and code officials.
- Must stay current on emerging industry trends/technology, and pursue continuous education.
- Must operate in a character consistent with company values (Skill, Integrity and Responsibility) in the best interest of our clients.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in construction management, construction science, engineering, or related field is preferred, but not required.
- Professional certifications or education in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing fields is a plus.
- Experience with water/waste-water treatment facilities is a plus.
