Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares all billing cycles for monthly billing. 
  • Review exception reports and request additional readings if necessary. 
  • Discuss large variances with customer service for possible problems and make approved adjustments as required. 
  • Prepares end-of-month reports and reconciliation reports to balance billing system to general ledger receivables.
  • Process and maintain billing system for changes relating to account types, meters, streetlights, trash fees and etc.
  • Maintains billing route information for programming on handheld meter reading devices and assists in rerouting activities.
  • Coordinates information for quarterly tracker calculations.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Assists in finance when discrepancies are found.
  • Assists with various job functions in the finance department as needed.
  • Supports annual audit by providing information and answers to auditors.

Qualifications

  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years related work experience is required.
  • General accounting education desired.
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to use a variety of office equipment such as calculators, copiers, typewriter, facsimile machine, personal computer, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.
  • Able to remain calm and deal tactfully with employees and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
  • A valid Indiana driver’s license required.
