SoarTech’s accounting team is looking for a full time, Senior Accountant interested in helping support our research, development, and implementation of this exciting technology into everyday operations.

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support to the ongoing efforts and processes of the accounting department. This role may require exposure to a wide array of accounting functions and will be responsible for analyzing accounting data, preparing reports, and suggesting improvements/recommendations. Senior accountants ensure all financial records and statements are in line with laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produces and presents accurate, timely, and error-free accounting reports.
  • Manages and oversees all timekeeping (via DelTek) and payroll processing (via ADP).
  • Manages and oversees all accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
  • Analyzes financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Spots errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  • Collaborates with direct and indirect procurement teams and other relevant business partners to improve business processes.
  • Complies with all internal reporting requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
  • Prepares audit schedules and supports audit required activities and reports.
  • Supports monthly closing procedures and monthly reporting actions.
  • Supports year end closing procedures and actions.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP principals.
  • Fixed asset management.
  • Accurate accounting and financial data entry and review of other accounting teammates work products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, business administration, economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (federal contracting or Department of Defense industry preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience managing and processing payroll functions.
  • Familiarity with CostPoint/Deltek, Sales Force, or ADP systems.
  • Extremely proficient with MS suite products (excel, word, Power Point, etc.) V lookups, and pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/purchasing methodology and basic accounting principles.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Possess strong communication (both oral and written), organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Strong active listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task, work with deadlines and respond quickly to change.
  • Strong customer focused attitude.
  • Ability to build & foster positive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sales and use tax knowledge.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance. 

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • An advanced degree in business administration, accounting, management, finance, economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience within federal contracting or Department of Defense industry.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting regulations or the DOD industry.  
  • Accounting certifications preferred (CPA, CGMA, CMA, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
