JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Training Manager will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of training programs and initiatives within Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana. This position requires a highly organized and creative individual with a passion for education, curriculum development, and adult learning. The primary objective is to enhance, promote, and maintain high standards of service delivery through curriculum planning and training initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a nonprofit setting and a strong commitment to our mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

           

  1. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with Program Directors on a quarterly basis to ensure course design, development, and selection of curriculum materials align with organizational goals and objectives. Create training plans in the Relias Learning Management System. On an annual basis, create a Leadership Development plan, incorporating the use of external partners, trainers, and educators to enhance training offerings. Serve as a resource to agency leaders in addressing competency gaps. Ensure that curriculum content is engaging, culturally sensitive, and inclusive.
  2. Training Program Management: Oversee the planning, scheduling, and implementation of training programs for staff and stakeholders. Evaluate training needs through surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms.
  3. Training & Delivery: Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and other educational programs, employing various instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs and make continuous improvements.
  4. Compliance: Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to maintain compliance with the Agency and CARF standards, as well as Federal, State, and other applicable regulatory/funding entities. Work closely with various departments to identify training needs and align curriculum with organizational priorities. Collaborate with external partners, trainers, and educators to enhance program offerings.  Maintains the agency performance review process (six-month, anniversary, and fiscal year review process).
  5. Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and participant feedback. Conduct evaluations to measure the impact and success of training initiatives.
  6. System/Reports/Analysis. Will serve as a primary point of contact and Agency expert on the Relias Learning Management System. Complies metrics and analysis with a focus on identifying opportunities to develop or recommend training to address staff performance issues and development needs.
  7. Special Projects. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required. 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and/or participate in the printing, binding, and assembly of training materials as well as transportation of materials to various facilities.
  • Coordinates acquisition, transportation, assembly, and use of training equipment including computers, digital projectors, screens, sound systems, and other equipment necessary for supporting training program initiatives.

 

KEY CONTACTS

  • Relias Learning Management System representatives to coordinate services and maintain expertise on the system features, programs, and resources.
  • Serve as primary representative of the Agency with respect to third-party vendors providing training-related products and services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

This position requires knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Training, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of proven experience in curriculum development and adult education, particularly in a nonprofit context.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or another professional trainer credentialed preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and learning development best practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with technology tools and e-learning platforms.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to modify style, approach, and techniques as appropriate based on participant needs. Ability to effectively use teaching aids (flip charts, slides, handouts.) Working with knowledge of audiovisual equipment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of databases and other computer software, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office products – MS Office Suite
  • The ability to work some flexible hours is required. The ability to travel is required.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Travels to other locations as appropriate in the performance of duties and responsibilities. 

Must have:

  • Current driver’s license issued by state of residence.
  • Current Vehicle Inspection decal
  • Current vehicle insurance
  • Current vehicle registration in state of residence
  • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation.

  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds when preparing/transferring training materials and equipment.
  • Visual acuity is necessary to operate computers, audiovisual and other digital equipment.
