General Description
The Route Manager will manage and direct the day to day operations of the Trucking business for Mid-Florida Materials Truck Division. Will work with Operations Manager to implement operation strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of the department goals
Key Duties
- Oversee all trucking operations within the company. Plan, organize, direct and control operations activities.
- Assist with hiring, training, developing and motivating employees toward accomplishing company goals.
- Conduct daily JSA Meetings with Staff prior to start of the workday
- Coordinate daily operational equipment needs with maintenance department.
- Ensure that all vehicles, and equipment in trucking operations remain in safe and efficient operating conditions, as well as kept in a clean, presentable condition.
- Support and enforce all company safety program. Cooperate with the company Safety Manager and continually ensure that all company operations and activities are performed in a consistently safe manner.
- Conduct Field Observations
- Conduct Accident investigations
- Review employee timecards daily
- Ensure that all company operations are in strict compliance with county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the environment.
- Adhere to all Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations and ensure that all company operations follow all related state and federal regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. - Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Route Manager. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Must have a minimum of four years in the industry. FDOT experience is a must. Valid Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record required.
- Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Route Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

- Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
- Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds individually and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
- Exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise.
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project need(s) and demand(s).
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Route Manager encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction site.
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
