Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greets and directs visitors to appropriate department or person.
 
- Handles all incoming calls and assists caller or directs call to appropriate person.
 
- Handles calls transferred from field offices during lunch.
 
- Processes mail and drop box and credit card payments.
 
- Assists customers with billing questions or complaints; including investigations and follow-up.
 
- Negotiates and assists customers with scheduling payment arrangements.
 
- Posts payments to accounts and processes checks for payment.
 
- Balances drawer and daily cash receipts.
 
- Processes service orders for new service, final bills, and to verify high billings.
 
- Assists customers with new account information – customer contracts, deposits, connections, etc.
 
- Maintains office billing and payment records.
 
- Runs credit checks.
 
- Calculates deposits.
 
- Maintains and continually updates customer data files ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
 
- Records customer service and complaint orders and dispatches electric, water or wastewater personnel.
 
- Processes disconnects and reconnects.
 
- Provides exceptional customer service. 
 
 
Qualifications: 
- A high school education or equivalent.
 
- Two (2) years related work experience is required.
 
- General accounting education desired.
 
- Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to use a variety of office equipment such as calculators, copiers, typewriter, facsimile machine, personal computer, etc.
 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.
 
- Able to remain calm and deal tactfully with employees and customers.
 
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
