Qualifications We’re Seeking:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field
  • 5+ years of expertise in leading and/or supporting DEI strategy for a national or multiple location organization
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with diverse communities and cultivating collaborative relationships across a spectrum of demographics
  • Familiarity with the commercial construction industry
  • Skill in garnering support for innovative ideas and solutions
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possesses a strategic mindset
  • Demonstrates a robust ability to engage, motivate, and inspire employees and leaders through impactful conversations, messaging, data analysis, and training.
  • Eagerness to address diverse audiences in various public settings
  • Initiates tasks independently, functioning as a self-starter to achieve goals aligned with strategic objectives
  • Displays unwavering dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion within the construction industry, recognizing the sustained effort necessary for the role
  • Proficient in coordinating multiple projects, effectively managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead DEI strategies and initiatives in partnership with the business across the enterprise.
  • Examine existing practices and policies and ensure alignment with the company’s culture.
  • Lead the development and expansion of DEI initiatives within regional offices.
  • Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to introduce a diverse pool of candidates, utilizing ongoing improvement and innovative processes to enhance employee engagement and retention across the company.
  • Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with DEI community entities, including governmental departments, community-based organizations (CBOs), national organizations and education partners. Additionally, focus on the continuous maintenance of these connections.
  • Actively participate in and engage with diversity hiring fairs, community initiatives and outreach events. Take part in sharing McGough’s DEI mission with the communities we work in.
  • Collaborate with project management and marketing teams in the development of project pursuit proposals. Specifically, contribute DEI data related to workforce and supplier diversity goals, as well as outline the company’s good faith efforts in this regard.
  • Proactively advocate the diversification of McGough’s subcontracting and vendor partners by actively participating in networking events, individual meetings, and open house events, and strategically placing projects to optimize opportunities for inclusion.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing a comprehensive companywide supplier diversity program.
  • Act as a key collaborator with internal employee resource groups to enhance DEI initiatives.
  • Facilitate and offer training opportunities for all personnel to enhance their understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
  • Provide support in overall internal and external DEI initiatives.

Office & Travel:

This position offers a hybrid setup, allowing for remote work flexibility 2-3 days per week after training.  Our primary office location is in St. Paul, MN, with occasional visits to regional offices.  Additionally, active participation in various external events and meetings is expected, including potential attendance at evening and weekend engagements.

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time at employee’s workstation and during meetings as well as while traveling, either by plane or car. Employee needs to be able to lift up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and ability to distinguish between colors on graphs and charts.

Occasionally, employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
