Job Purpose

The Safety Manager will partner with our current Safety/Compliance Manager to develop and oversee the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. They are responsible for creating functional strategies and specific objectives for the safety department and develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations;
  • Introduce new ideas and implement them to continuously improve safety for all staff;
  • Responsible for being the driving force of our safety culture;
  • Guarantees periodic safety audits are conducted;
  • Provides the company with programs that preserve a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment;
  • Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents;
  • Generate required reporting;
  • Update and maintain the Health and Safety Plan (HASP);
  • Manage and coach the indus team on safety;
  • Any other functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred or equivalent experience in lieu of college degree required;
  • Minimum 10+ years previous related safety experience;
  • Possess a minimum of an OSHA 30 certification;
  • Good analytical skills required;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel;
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized;
  • Ability to interact professionally, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment;
  • Must be proactive and solution oriented;

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements

  • Requires extensive computer use for long periods of time;
  • Noise level is typically quiet in the office;
  • Noise level in the field varies, jobsite visits are required;
  • Required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers to probe, handle, or feel and reach with hands or arms;
  • Required to sit for long periods;
  • Required to listen and respond in a professional manner;
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25lbs;
