OBJECTIVE: 

Amplify Association Management (Amplify) is an association management company (AMC) that specializes in full-service management for non-profit professional and trade associations. We become a strategic partner to our clients to elevate the impact of their mission, members and industry.

The Executive Director of the Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance (IAWA) is responsible for establishing and executing the organization’s strategic direction, communicating the initiative and the importance of water quality in Iowa, and building collaborations with other  aligned partners. This role provides leadership, counsel, and direction to the IAWA Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Business Council.  Specifically, the Executive Director is responsible for and has commensurate authority to accomplish the duties listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops policies, procedures, and programs to support the IAWA board of directors and Business Council
  • Assists the IAWA board to establish the strategic direction and vision for the organization
  • Serves as advisor to the IAWA board
  • Develops, implements, and administers the IAWA’s annual budget
  • Seeks additional financial partners with similar goals and objectives
  • Provides the necessary staff support to deliver on IAWA mission
  • Identifies challenges and opportunities related increasing the pace and scale of farmer-led  practices to improve water quality furthering the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy for the IAWA board
  • Coordinates programs and activities among the Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Pork Board ensuring consistency and compatibility of efforts
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with agricultural organizations, other trade associations, government officials and agencies, and other to further the interests of the IAWA
  • Serves as a public spokesperson for the IAWA
  •  Represents the IAWA  at  appropriate official events and through service on partner boards, councils or committees
  • Assures that the Board, Management Team, Advisory Council and Business Council are kept fully informed on the conditions and operations of the association, and on all important factors influencing the organization
  • Participates in all meetings of the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Business Council, maintaining minutes of the meetings and other official meetings of the association in the permanent files and provides security and appropriate confidentiality for all files
  • Signs and executes contracts and commitments as authorized by the Board or established policies
  • Responsible for the planning, promotion, and administration of all official business meetings of IAWA
  • Serves as the team leader, collaborating, coordinating and working with the Amplify team, RCFI team and others who support IAWA, such as third-party vendors.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between IAWA and the Iowa Soybean Research and Conservation teams and Amplify teams

TRAVEL

  • Travel required. Travel is outside the local area and/or out-of-state. Multiple consecutive days of travel and overnight stays required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This position has supervisory responsibility with the IAWA staff team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in related field.
  • Three to five years’ experience in organization or non-profit management.

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certified Association Executive (CAE), Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
