Spear D is seeking an experienced utility estimator to join our team as we rise to the next level! You will work alongside a group of professional estimators to procure work for the Spear D Construction Department. We know that estimating isn’t just about crunching numbers. It’s about sourcing work that builds our state and supports the livelihoods of our skilled construction crews and their families! Job Requirements
- Experience 6+ years.
- Bring at least six (6) years of experience in bidding civil work to the table in utilities, earthwork, concrete, paving, and/or treatment plants.
- Actively seek projects to bid on to meet quarterly revenue expectations. This is how we keep our crews working year-round!
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits across the State of New Mexico.
- Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and with detailed costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Be proficient in the use of InEight Estimate (Hard Dollar), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Manage the estimating process in an organized, timely manner. It’s a deadline-oriented industry!
- Lead bid reviews with managers and project managers.
- Perform takeoffs of plans and specifications using Blue Beam, Agtek, or similar software. Detailed takeoffs are created for subcontracted and self-performed work.
- Work closely with the leadership team to adjust bidding according to current and anticipated backlog needs.
- Develop, maintain, and grow a network of relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers using personal contacts and any other available resources.
- Continue to grow in your knowledge of the industry and inner workings of TLC.
- Possess a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
- Be highly productive and have strong organizational skills.
- Provide guidance, support, and industry knowledge to help the estimating team (and the individuals on it) reach their full potential.
- Assist in maintaining a healthy working environment to uphold the company’s purpose, mission, vision, and values.

$100,000- $115,000
