Data Center Commissioning Manager

The primary role of the Commissioning Manager is for overseeing the commissioning process of constructing a data center facility to completion. This includes ensuring that all systems and components of the facility are designed, installed, tested, and operated according to the project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.  Other key responsibilities include management of trade commissioning personnel, coordination with owner/tenant commissioning team and manufacturer representatives.   CM to mentor and coach project management staff in commissioning process and fostering and building relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors and suppliers.

Implement the commissioning plan developed by the project commissioning authority, outlining the scope to affected subcontractors, as well as develop and maintaining a commissioning schedule. Coordinate with the project team, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to integrate commissioning requirements into the overall construction plan.  Oversee the testing and verification of all critical systems and components within the data center, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, security, and IT infrastructure.  Ensure that all systems meet performance criteria, reliability standards, and operational requirements specified in the project documentation.

Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, test results, and system performance evaluations throughout the construction process.  Generate comprehensive commissioning reports documenting findings, deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective actions or improvements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree
  • 7+ years of related experience with Commissioning preferably in Data Centers
  • In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including electrical distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, security, and network architecture.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes, testing methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, ANSI/BICSI).
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in documenting findings and recommendations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong partnerships and trust with external partners, including owners, owner's representatives, design firms, and subcontractors

Preferred:

  • CX Alloy proficient, Procore proficient

Employee will be required to visit construction jobsites, which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.  In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites.  This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, and climbing stairs.
