Position Summary:

Bituminous Roadways, Inc. (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Lowboy Driver to join our team. Our main office is located in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Inver Grove Heights, Shakopee, and Columbus.

Key Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip 
  • Load all types of equipment (Excavators, Loaders, etc.) 
  • Maintain accurate logs 
  • Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions 
  • Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed 
  • Primary focus is to deliver equipment safely and efficiently to and from job sites. 
  • Ensuring that the equipment is safely loaded and secured. 
  • Promptly reporting any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management. 
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety, maintenance, and road safety regulations. 
  • Understand and know DOT rules and regulations.  
  • Communicate clearly with Truck Dispatch, Foremen and Supervisors.  
  • Be aware of surroundings. Upon entering a job site locate all over head and backing hazards power lines, railroad crossings, light poles. Be consistently vigilant of these hazards. 

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • Reliable, cooperative, and respectful to others on the road and internal/external customers
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate. 
  • Clean driving record. 
  • Knowledge of the Twin Cities and surrounding area.  
  • Class A (CDL), required.   
  • Expected to be familiar with the BR Employee Handbook and Guidelines for Trucking Provider and Drivers.  

Other Requirements:

All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test.  References will also be checked.
