Overview:
The Strategic Account Manager will be a part of our Utility Metals Division.  You will be selling and managing projects in the outdoor lighting industry, requiring over 10 years of experience with an OEM, agent, or distributor. The role involves developing and expanding business relationships with top lighting manufacturers and key national accounts, ensuring favorable contract terms to meet revenue and profit goals. Essential to success will be growing existing customer accounts by understanding their needs, preparing competitive bids, and utilizing CRM for tracking and follow-up. The candidate will negotiate pricing and terms with national accounts, analyze sales performance using Excel and Power BI, and continuously monitor and update product offerings and lead times.

Experience and Expertise:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or 15+ years of account and project management experience in the lighting industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: 10+ years’ experience in the project management/inside sales in the outdoor lighting industry at an OEM, an agent, or a distributor. Familiarity with the industry, products, applications, and customer base management.
  • Business Development: Ability to own, develop, and expand business relationships with Utility Metals' top lighting manufacturers (OEMs) and key national accounts. Ensure favorable contract terms for meeting revenue and profit goals.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to review monthly sales performance and diving deep to understand product performance. Proficient in Excel, including creating pivot tables. Proficient in Power BI.
  • Customer Growth: Proven ability to expand relationships with large accounts by understanding their needs and tailoring offerings to match.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Competitive Bidding: Experience in preparing quotes for competitive bids to OEMs and key national accounts. Proficient in utilizing CRM to log and follow up, and making recommendations on pricing, lead time, etc., for improvement.
  • Negotiation: Experience negotiating new pricing and terms annually with national accounts and adjusting mid-year or off-cycle price changes as needed to compensate for material cost increases.
  • Process Monitoring: Continuously monitor and update product offerings and lead times. Manage internal processes and requirements for line reviews.
  • Supplier Scorecards: Belief in the value of supplier scorecards and ability to work with internal and external partners to develop action plans around shortfalls.
  • Leadership Aspirations: Ambition for a management position with prior experience managing direct reports or interest in managing people in the future.
