Day-To-Day:
- Coordinates with recruiters from organizations/businesses to inquire about available jobs and the kind of candidate they are looking for.
- Develops and maintains relationships with prospective employers and identify best-fit employment opportunities for each participant, per their IPE and initial meeting.
- Solicits commitments from possible employers for competitive jobs, work experience and/or internships.
- Attends industry meetings and events to maximize communications and gain a detailed understanding of employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
- Organizes and hosts labor exchange and hiring events for employers and VOTS participants, utilizing and leveraging key partners and stakeholders throughout surrounding counties.
- Visits and explores business, including small business, to carve out jobs for individuals with significant disabilities.
- Locates and contacts prospective employers on behalf of the individual including negotiating the individual’s employment.
- Explores jobs related to individual employment outcomes.
- Tours current or potential work environments for potential partnerships. This includes touring worksites with participants in the program to identify needs for accommodations.
- Accompanies the individuals to interviews to assist in securing a job.
- Observes the need of extended services and supports required at and away from the job site that will be necessary for employment success.
Job Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, business, marketing, or a related human services field and six months of experience providing services to people with disabilities. High school diploma and two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Must be able to pass required courses to obtain and maintain certification for job coaching, job placement, supported employment, etc. via the University of North Texas as required by Texas Workforce Commission.
Valid Texas Drivers’ License, clear MVR and ability to be insured.
