Traffic Sign Installer / Driver (Minneapolis location)

Since 1954 Warning Lites of MN has contributed to the safety of the driving public with pavement marking, signage, and traffic control services. Due to continued growth, we are looking for someone to complement our team of highly motivated Installer / Drivers. No experience required – just a desire to learn our trade of installing traffic signs and posts. This position reports to the Install Project Manager. You can expect to work ~45 hrs/week with an opportunity for additional overtime on weekends;. Must be available M-F 7am-5pm

The Role:

As an Installer, your responsibilities include:

• Assemble and install signs and posts as directed by the drawings and directions given. You may be working by yourself or with another team member, abiding by all OSHA, DOT and site-specific safety precautions. Installing signs consists of various processes including: bolting, screwing, and hanging signs in pieces or in their entirety. Operates hand and power tools such as air hammers, pipe installers and pullers, saws, etc.
• Ensuring the types/amounts of equipment and materials are prepared, according to work orders.
• Assist in loading signage for travel to project site, ensuring that it will arrive damage-free.
• Submit daily reports to account for materials, equipment used and work completed.

This position does not require previous experience-we provide on-the-job training for required tasks you will need to perform but we do require the following:

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (as determined by our insurance company) - required
• Able to utilize a GPS device and read a map
• Proficient with hand tools, saws, drills, jack hammering
• Ability to work long hours during Spring/Summer/Fall months (Note: this position is seasonal typically off Jan-Mar depends on the weather). Work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperatures (ex: exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or windy conditions.
• Must have the ability to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; lift and carry heavy objects (70+ pounds); frequently exert over 50 lbs of force; walk and stand for extended periods of time and ability to work at heights of 7-25 ft.
• Must have the ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have working knowledge of English sufficient enough to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information
• Experience performing manual labor
• Certification in crane operation, hoisting, rigging, a 10-hour OSHA course is desired, but not required.

Required:

   Valid driver's license - driving record must be acceptable to our insurance company guidelines

Preferred:

• Class A or B CDL license - Class A preferred
• Knowledge and experience driving heavy utility trucks, pulling and backing trailers, forklift and basic mechanical knowledge
• 3+ years of overall, consistent work experience

We offer:

• • Starting wage between $21 - $25/hr.** Most of our drivers earn $50,000-$80,000+/season yr (spring through early winter).
  • Opportunity for Prevailing Wage ($50/hr.+ depending on location and contract). Prevailing Wage jobs earn overtime for working more than 8 hours per day
