Diesel Mechanic Pay Range
- Paid WEEKLY
- $21/hr - $29/hr
Diesel Mechanic Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance on forklifts and other diesel equipment.
- Interpret the manufacture’s technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Able to diagnose, evaluate, and repair mast and attachment components.
- Working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.
- Ability to work on propane, gas, and diesel systems.
- Replace broken or defective parts and order replacement parts for major repairs.
- Re-assemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments
- Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to work floor
- Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
- The ability to work overtime, weekends, changing shifts as needed. Punctual attendance is required.
- Able to work in a non-climate controlled environment with outdoor exposure
- Able to work independently and follow directions. High level of attention to detail.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of mechanical background working on forklifts and diesel engines is required.
- Certificate of welding ability is preferred.
- Must have all required hand tool.
- Able to work in time sensitive and sometimes stressful situations.
- Able to work in a non-climate controlled environment with outdoor exposure.
- Able to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and machine breakdowns.
- Able to work independently and follow directions.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift, push and pull in excess of 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to lift your own weight while climbing ladders, steel bracing, stairs, etc.
- Must be able to crawl in small or tight places.
- Job requires bending, stooping, and carrying.
- Exposed to temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise.
