The Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting, implementing effective financial controls, allocating tasks evenly across the team, driving team performance to achieve high quality output.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead accounting team, overseeing the general accounting functions, including by not limited to accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and monthly close processes ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items and contain appropriate supporting documentation within established month-end close timeframes.
  • Understand how to calculate, account for, reconcile, and review the Work in Progress schedule for the fabrication entity.
  • Support annual financial statement audit process by preparing schedules, researching issues, clarifying information, and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Develop team members by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships, while working closely with Corporate Controller on team development and direction.
  • Maintain policies and procedures, assuring standard accounting procedures are adhered to and continuously monitor for needed updates or improvements.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place, reviewed regularly, and working as designed.
  • Improve processes related to above duties and responsibilities, always maintaining perspective of continuous improvement.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Support operations teams and other departments on financial and accounting matters as needed.
  • Support the Corporate Controller with special projects.
  • Perform other accounting related tasks and ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, solicit input, motivate employees, and elicit top quality work output.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent prioritization skills and feel comfortable taking initiative in order to deliver results.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with demonstrated leadership skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • 8 years or more of related experience required including 2 or more years in Accounting Manager or similar role, preferably in the fields of construction or manufacturing/fabrication.
  • WIP experience a plus.
  • Multi-currency experience preferred.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Sage 300 CRE/Timberline accounting software experience preferred.
