We are currently searching for an Asset Management Specialist to work onsite at our Operations Center in Columbus Grove, OH!
Under the direction of the Loss Mitigation Manager and the Chief Credit Officer, the Asset Management Specialist must demonstrate knowledge in workout plans, loan and overdraft collections, bank reporting, litigation, small claims, bankruptcy procedures, repossessions and insurance settlement. This position requires a high level of competency in problem solving, time management, system knowledge, and a thorough understanding of loan products and policies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Control Delinquency – Contacts delinquent loan customers by phone, house calls, and mail to resolve past due status of accounts. Identifies distressed credits and initiates appropriate work out strategies with the assistance of management and loan officer.
- Foreclosure – Reviews mortgage loan documentation to verify appropriate collateral position, proper filing and identifies interested parties. Prepares 30-day demands and forwards certified documentation to all interested parties. Forwards all documentation to attorney during the foreclosure action. Monitors attorney activity during the foreclosure process for appropriateness and timeliness. Recommends bidding instructions to management. Attends foreclosure sales as required.
- Repossession – Reviews and identifies distressed accounts and collateral that may be in jeopardy. Initiates repossessions as required. Responsible for performing dual control inventory, securing and removing all personal items from repossessed collateral. Directs and oversees the preparation and sale of repossessed collateral.
- Loss Prevention and Charge Off – Reviews all accounts for potential loss and any collateral that may be in jeopardy. Originates immediate action to minimize losses by taking possession of property, placing collateral in secure environment and/or changing the locks as appropriate under the law. Recommends immediate charge off for any identified loss.
- Bankruptcy/Small Claims – Assists with bankruptcy proceedings and preparation of small claims documents as deemed necessary.
- Freddie Mac Reporting – Meets monthly reporting requirements per Freddie Mac guidelines.
- Non-Accrual – Reviews all loans over 60 days to determine collateral position and verify repayment sources. Provide any information with regard to substantive issues jeopardizing the bank’s safety and soundness.
- Overdraft Honors (ODH) and Overdraft Accounts – Collects on delinquent overdrafts; and charges accounts off when deemed uncollectable.
- Charge Off Accounts – Review and collect on charge off accounts.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
- Research and correct improper payment/system errors.
- Initiate error corrections to credit reports.
- Keep abreast of changes in products, policies and procedures, and attend training as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special requirements for the position:
- Minimum of high school degree and an associate’s degree, preferred.
- 2-3 years collection experience or 3 years of banking experience.
- Must have the capacity to work under stress and handle difficult situations.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills.
