Caddell Construction has a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Safety Intern who is inquisitive and has a desire to learn.

What You Will Do

As an intern you will work in a team environment and gain experience with the following safety functions:

  • Assists with planning, implementing and supervising project safety guidelines and ensuring that accident and fire protection programs are in compliance with the Caddell Corporate Safety Program on the assigned project.
  • Assists with conducting thorough daily safety inspections of all active work areas and documenting these inspections.
  • Assists with consulting with field staff on safety issues, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Assists with conducting initial safety orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Assists with monitoring housekeeping practices to ensure clean and safe environment.
  • Shadows Safety manager as construction safety liaison with owner and subcontractors.
  • Assists with preparing and submitting all required safety-related reports.
  • Assists with conducting post-accident and property damage investigations.
  • Performs additional assignments per Safety Manager’s direction.
  • Working Conditions – Construction setting, travel required, full time. Must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for longs periods of time, lift and hold in excess of 50lbs, talk, hear and occasionally sit. Must have the ability to withstand confined spaces and or/extreme heights while negotiating tasks at hand in a safe manner to themselves and/or others. Subject to hot, cold, humid and wet conditions depending on location.

What We Expect

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Desire to work in and to learn about the construction industry.  Excellent organizational skills; effective written and verbal communication skills. Self-accountability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn. 

Requirements:

  • Pursuing college or university accredited degree program; recommended majors include and not limited to Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or other related field of study, and at minimum two (2) years of completed education, and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Course preferred but not required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Reliable transportation is required, and occasional travel may be needed.
  • Must attend 2-day Orientation at Corporate Headquarters in Montgomery, AL.
  • Must be available for the duration of the internship.

The hourly rate for this intern position is $18.00 per hour.
