Position Overview

Under the guidance of an experienced Mine & Site Planning Manager, the intern will contribute to various projects aimed at optimizing mining operations, analysis activities and enhancing site efficiency. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in mine operations and site planning within the aggregates industry.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)

  • Will perform mine design and planning work with projects related to analysis and improvement of Capitol Aggregates sites which may include input on site mining efficiency, mine design, mine progression, and process flow.
  • Field work as needed supporting Capitol mine sites.
  • Field survey work which will include site layout and collection of data to and from the field.
  • Assists with collection and organization of data.
  • Assists with creation and organization of previous documentation, maps, and drawings.
  • Documents and presents project progress to the mine planning manager.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute ideas for improving planning processes.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient use of computer and software programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education & Experience

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program Mining Engineer, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Other Qualifications

  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, preferred.
  • Experience in Computer-Aided Design software preferred.
  • Experience with surveying preferred.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
