Fred Smith Company is searching for a Payroll Administrator to help us keep growing! The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication skills in English and Spanish. We are a self-perform heavy civil contractor working in North Carolina. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible after 90 days for benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance and paid time off.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, compile and enter payroll data using JDE and Plan Source
- Accurately process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
- Be involved with checking and auditing employee master data within JD Edwards software.
- Collect and verify timekeeping information for employees
- Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
- Review and verify source documents
- Complete requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and FSC policy guidelines.
- Liaise with the HR department and accounting department to ensure accurate information.
- Assist with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management.
- Customer service – Excellent communication abilities to deal with employee complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management.
- Keep track of pay periods, hourly wages, salaries, overtime, and vacation days of employees
- Prepare and mail Wage Attachment checks and the backup associated with the checks
- Outstanding organization and time management skills
Requirements:
- Bilingual - English/Spanish (preferred/not required)
- High school diploma or equivalent; FPC Certification is a plus; BS/BA in accounting/business administration is preferred, but not required
- Highly proficient in computer skills and technology
- Accurate and meticulous in data entry
- Strong clerical, administrative and general office skills
- Exceptional calculation and memory skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Able to work in front of a computer for long hours at a time
- Some knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations
