Position Overview: The Rental Sales Representative is pivotal in driving the growth and success of Coastline Equipment’s rental business. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective rental clients, providing expert guidance on equipment applications, and tailoring solutions to meet specific project needs. The Rental Sales Representative collaborates closely with the rental team to ensure seamless operations, from equipment delivery to routine on-site inspections, reinforcing Coastline Equipment’s commitment to outstanding customer service and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relations: Establish and nurture relationships with rental customers, serving as a knowledgeable resource on John Deere equipment and its applications.
- Product Expertise: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of equipment use, application, and capabilities, ensuring alignment between product offerings and client needs.
- Operational Support: Manage equipment pick-up and delivery schedules, ensuring timely service and reliable equipment availability for clients.
- Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of rented equipment to verify it is in optimal condition and complies with safety standards.
- Customer Follow-up: Engage with clients post-rental to confirm satisfaction, address any concerns, and encourage repeat business.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activities and market trends to provide insights that inform Coastline Equipment’s rental strategies and market approaches.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, call logs, and detailed call reports to support ongoing client communication and service continuity.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Proven knowledge of John Deere equipment and competitor offerings, with experience in the equipment rental industry being highly advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, managing multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in computer and software applications, demonstrating strong general technology skills.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record and the ability to travel as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of safely climbing on and off equipment and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Age Requirement: Minimum age of 25 due to insurance requirements.
Preferred Experience:
- Location: Based in Orange County, CA, for proximity to key clients.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in the equipment rental industry, particularly with construction equipment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with CRM software and office equipment operation.
- Certifications: Forklift operation certification is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Setting: Primarily office-based with regular interactions at client sites.
- Travel: Frequent travel within Southern California, Nevada, and Idaho to meet with clients and manage rentals.
- Conditions: Ability to work in diverse environments, including outdoor sites, and adapt to varying weather conditions as required.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports To: Sales Manager.
- Collaboration: Works closely with the rental team, including Rental Developers, Service Technicians, and Parts Specialists, to ensure comprehensive client support and service delivery.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $50,000–$75,000 per year plus commission. Individual compensation is based on skills, qualifications, and industry experience, with the potential for additional sales incentives.
