Fire Protection Inspector Position 

A Fire Protection Inspector is responsible for performing scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance on various types of fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows in commercial, healthcare, residential, industrial, and other types of facilities. 

The successful candidate must be a licensed NC fire sprinkler inspector. 

This position has a salary range of $25-$36 depending on experience 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform fire sprinkler, backflow preventer, fire pump, 5-year assessments, fire extinguisher, and emergency/exit lights testing and inspections in a knowledgeable and thorough manner.
  • Complete inspection reports in a thorough and timely manner. (24 hours on average.
  • Obtain signed inspection reports and terms and conditions from owner representatives.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and represent Sunland in a professional manner.
  • Document deficiencies in a way that expedites the turnaround of repair quotes
  • Respond to supervisor and customer’s needs (i.e., prompt return of calls, quotes, etc.)
  • Effective scheduling of time.
  • Obtain tools and equipment for projects as required.
  • Coordinate with other TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) members as required to complete efficient inspections.
  • Keep current with new technology, state and local codes.
  • Maintain company vehicle in accordance with Sunland's policy.
  • Communicate effectively with other TEAM members and leaders in the company.
  • Make backflow preventer repairs.
  • Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned. 

 

Job Qualifications 

  • F-S-IT License required. 
  • NICET II Certification preferred. 
  • Additional certifications related to fire safety is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Two years of experience in the fire protection industry preferred. 
  • Understand NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and building and fire codes.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and written.  
  • Valid driver’s license; in accordance with company policy required.  
  • Able to pass a post-offer drug test and background check.  
  • Knowledge of manufacturer's equipment.

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation 
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and walking
