Internship Overview
The Ag Technology internship is designed to deliver a best-in-class intern experience focused on increasing the selected intern’s knowledge and experience in Ag Technology and exploring how it impacts the various departments within a John Deere equipment dealership.
If selected, you will gain hands on experience in troubleshooting, installing, operating, and training on a variety of Ag Technology products offered by John Deere. During your internship you will have the opportunity to apply your skills by assisting internal and external customers on ag equipment technology needs. Finally, you will gain a broader understanding of a busy dealership by shadowing a variety of departments within the dealership.
Specific experiences you can expect during your Internship:
- Leading and/or shadowing demonstrations of new ag equipment and technology
- Assisting Ag Technology Specialists with software installation updates and technology upgrades on John Deere agricultural equipment such as tractors, combines, sprayers, and planters
- Partnering with full-time team members to understand and provide solution-based business consulting services to customers directly
- Participating in internal projects including but not limited to data analysis, John Deere Link Terminal Management, and training catalogs
- Supporting user operation trainings of John Deere Ag Technology products and solutions to internal and external customers
- Gaining a deeper understanding of dealership operations outside of Ag Technology Department through job shadowing across all departments
- Any other job duties as assigned during the course of your internship
What we’re looking for in the ideal intern candidate:
- Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year of a 4-year degree program with an Agriculture major (e.g. Agronomy, Ag Technology, Ag Business Management, etc.)
- Deep passion for the Agricultural industry and a high level of interest in Ag Technology
- Understanding of Agricultural systems and previous operation of agricultural equipment
- Knowledge of electrical and wireless communication systems
- Solutions oriented with the ability to evaluate processes, troubleshoot and identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate finding to others.
- Customer focused mindset with past successful experience supporting internal or external customer needs directly
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle priorities and switch gears as needed
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Open to local (day) travel to other store locations and/or customers
