2nd Shift Shipping/Wood Shop

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 2pm-12:30am

In this position, you’ll be an important part of the manufacturing team. Duties include:

  • Packaging and shipping product to customer specifications
  • Determining product container requirements to ensure safe delivery to customer
  • Planning incoming product disposition
  • Processing pack slips, bill of lading, export paperwork and expedite orders
  • Conferring with sales, manufacturing and quality on product and customer complaint issues
  • Receiving incoming materials, POs, and raw materials per company quality requirements
  • Conduct daily operations in a safe and team-oriented atmosphere

This is a multi-faceted position in a medium-sized organization. You must be able to interact comfortably with other departments on a regular basis. Must like a fast-paced environment. This position requires a high level of detail.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum:

  • 1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience
  • Forklift experience a plus, will train
  • Overhead crane experience a plus, will train
  • Experience with measurement devices a must
  • Crating or carpentry experience a plus, will train
  • UPS Worldship experience a plus
  • Export paperwork experience at plus
  • Understanding SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations

SUMMARY

Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determines the method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Insert items into containers.
  • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
  • Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
  • Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
  • Works to sustain 5S.
  • Supports and upholds the quality and EHS policy.
