We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Shop Helper/Technician. This position involves hands-on support in maintaining the shop, managing materials, and ensuring the shop runs efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Stock, track, and organize tools, materials, and supplies.
- Load incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring accuracy in counts and tracking.
- Load and secure materials for transport, verifying tools and equipment are in working order.
- Perform light maintenance on shop equipment, including small tools, generators, and small gas engines.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained, clean, and ready for use, with basic repairs as needed.
- Report safety violations, equipment issues, and material discrepancies to the shop manager.
- Use technology tools Google Docs and Microsoft Office to track tasks and orders.
- Assist with yard maintenance, such as weed trimming, sweeping, and other general upkeep.
- Learn and assist in shop supervisory tasks, including organizing workloads, managing inventory, and training shop personnel.
- You will be responsible for managing load lists, purchase orders, and equipment maintenance.
- You will learn to manage incoming and outgoing materials, oversee proper loading and unloading procedures, and handle inventory management.
- Assist with improvements and small-scale building/framing projects around the yard.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of small gas engines and vehicles, with the ability to perform light maintenance.
- Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility over time.
- Basic technology skills (Google Docs, MS Office), with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Leadership potential, with the ability to train and supervise others in the future.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred, at least 18 years of age, reliable source of transportation
Preferred Qualities:
- Experience in construction or small gas engines/auto is a plus.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting and organizing materials.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well with others and report to managers.
- Willingness to take on challenges and continuously seek improvement in shop processes.
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM.
Compensation:
Starting wage: $20-30/hr DOE with opportunities for advancement
The position is safety-sensitive and must pass pre-employment drug screening.
