Due to continued growth, we are actively seeking a Special Hazards Technician to support our team in Woburn, MA.  In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of special hazards fire protection systems. This role ensures that all fire protection systems operate effectively to protect personnel, equipment, and property from fire and other hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance:
    • Install special hazard fire protection systems such as clean agent systems, pre-action systems, water mist systems, foam systems, and more.
    • Perform regular maintenance on fire protection systems to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.
  • Inspection & Testing:
    • Conduct periodic inspections and tests of special hazard fire systems in accordance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and standards.
    • Document findings and report any discrepancies or issues.
  • Repair:
    • Diagnose and repair any malfunctions or defects in special hazards fire protection systems.
    • Replace defective components and restore system functionality.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond promptly to emergency service calls regarding fire protection system failures.
    • Work alongside other emergency personnel during fire events to mitigate hazards.
  • Training:
    • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs related to special hazards fire protection.
  • Customer Service:
    • Interact with clients and stakeholders to explain fire protection system functionalities and address any concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in fire protection technology is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of [Insert Years] years of experience in fire protection systems, particularly special hazards systems.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in Special Hazards Systems is preferred.
    • Massachusetts Certificate of Competency in Pre-Engineered and Engineered Systems and Portable Fire Extinguishers required
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical and mechanical skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
    • Proficient in using tools and equipment related to fire protection systems.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and carry up to [Insert Weight] lbs.
    • Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
    • Ability to work in hazardous conditions while using appropriate protective equipment.
