Position Overview:

The Project Engineer, Industrial Construction is a key technical role that supports the planning, coordination, and execution of industrial construction projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors, the Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all engineering and construction activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Total-Western’s quality standards. This position plays a pivotal role in delivering projects on time and within budget while meeting the specific needs of our diverse clientele.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in developing detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring all activities align with client requirements and safety standards.
  • Technical Support: Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, including design reviews, technical evaluations, and field support to address on-site challenges.
  • Quality and Safety Assurance: Oversee quality control measures, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and Total-Western’s internal safety protocols.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and distribute project documentation such as progress reports, change orders, and technical specifications.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and seamless project execution.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify potential issues early, propose practical solutions, and work collaboratively to resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives aimed at enhancing project efficiency, reducing costs, and improving safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial construction or EPCOM projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME codes, construction methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while adhering to strict safety standards.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in industries such as oil and gas, aerospace, petrochemical, or renewable energy.
  • Familiarity with project management software like Primavera P6 or Procore.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., PMP or relevant technical certifications) are a plus.
  • Prior experience in both office and field environments, contributing to a well-rounded project management skill set.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily field-based with periodic office work.
  • Regular travel to project sites across the Western U.S. is required.
  • Exposure to diverse weather conditions and dynamic industrial environments.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Reporting Structure:

The Project Engineer, Industrial Construction reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with project managers, senior engineers, and field supervisors to ensure the successful completion of projects.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation Range: $85,000 - $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
